21-year-old heavyweight Johnny Fisher has signed a multi-fight deal with Matchroom Boxing, and the Mark Tibbs-trained prospect will look to turn pro by the end of 2020.
The 6’5” Fisher could turn into a prized prospect for Matchroom, as the heavyweight division always naturally draws more attention than really any other division in all of boxing, and the British scene is hot with all four of the major sanctioning body titles held by Brits, with Tyson Fury holding the WBC belt (as well as the LINEAL!!!!!!!!!) and Anthony Joshua having control of the WBA, IBF, and WBO straps.
The British also boast standouts in Dillian Whyte (who took a recent loss but remains a contender), plus fast-rising stars Daniel Dubois and Joe Joyce.
“I’m not that experienced but I’m explosive and I know what I can bring to the table,” said Fisher. “With Mark Tibbs and Sam Jones guiding me, and now Matchroom Boxing as well, I know I’ve got what it takes to get to the top. I’m looking forward to the journey ahead and with the team I have around me there is no reason why I can’t achieve my goals.
