Katie Taylor Drops, Dominates Miriam Gutierrez For Decision Win

SSE Arena, Wembley, London – IBF, WBC, WBA, WBO lightweight champion Katie Taylor (17-0, 6 KOs) dominated her way to a ten round unanimous decision win over undefeated mandatory challenger Miriam Gutierrez (13-1, 5 KOs).

The scores were 100-89, 100-90 and 99-91.

Taylor went right after Gutierrez in the first round, throwing big punches and pushing the challenger back. Taylor was landing heavy blows to the head and body, with Gutierrez looking very slow and unable to do much.

In the third, Taylor was really going after Gutierrez with heavy combinations. She pinned Gutierrez against the ropes and was busting her up with big shots. Gutierrez was able to weather the story and tried to come back, but Taylor’ faster hands were hitting the mark hard.

At the end of the fourth, a combination dropped Gutierrez to the mat. During the fifth, Taylor continued to break down the challenger with heavy shots connecting. Taylor tried to stop Gutierrez in the sixth, but the challenger was able to withstand the barrage and survived.

It was more of the same until the end of the fight, with Taylor dominating the action with her skills and activity.
