We ask a panel of boxing figures who they consider to be the best British light-heavyweight at the moment

Mickey Helliet
Boxing manager

Joshua Buatsi’s polished skills and consistency make me think he is at the top of the British light-heavies. A fight with Lyndon Arthur is needed before he moves up to world level.

Joe Gallagher
Callum Johnson’s trainer

It’s got to be Callum Johnson. His record suggests that, the people that he’s fought. He’s been in with Beterbiev, he put him on the floor. He then had a good win against Seanie Monaghan. Last time out he had a good win against a tough opponent. Johnson on what he’s done, what he’s achieved.

Lisa Whiteside
Commonwealth Games winner

Probably the most competitive weight division in this country but I would currently choose Joshua Buatsi and he is destined to become a champion. Really good to see Callum Johnson back in the mix too, a real warrior.

Andy Clarke
Commentator

Callum Johnson. His is the most impressive body of work in my opinion. Inactivity has been a curse but I think he’s ready to deliver on the talent he’s always had.
