Will Tyson Fury fight Dillian Whyte as a southpaw? There are hints at the public workout

DILLIAN WHYTE declined to attend Tuesday’s public workout ahead of challenging Tyson Fury for the world heavyweight championship at Wembley stadium this weekend.

Whyte has yet to appear in person with Fury in the build up to this promotion, though he is expected to attend a press conference on Wednesday and certainly will be at the weigh in on Friday.

Fury hardly seemed troubled by Whyte’s absence. He worked the pads with his trainer Sugar Hill Steward. In this public workout Fury hit the pads largely in the southpaw stance. That’s a hint at how he might approach this fight with Whyte. Fury is an orthodox boxer but is also adept when fighting as a southpaw as well. But equally this appearance as a southpaw could also be intended to throw his opponent off. As well as being a good tactician in the ring, Fury is a master of mind games outside of the ropes.

“It doesn’t get any better than this,” Fury said afterwards. “This is the pinnacle of boxing. It does not get any bigger than this.”

“We’re here to put on a show. We’re here to put on a great spectacle for the fans,” he added.

“This is what I’ve been building up for my whole career. I’ve had to go to America, conquer America and take over Las Vegas and now I’m back. It’s been a long, long journey and now I’m back at home to celebrate with all my fans, the homecoming and this is it. Don’t miss it.”
