Lewis Crocker Blasts Out Greene, Liam Taylor Edges Tetley

Production Park Studios, South Kirkby – For the vacant World Boxing Organisation European welterweight title, Lewis Crocker (12-0, 7 KOs) dropped Louis Greene (12-2, 7 KOs) three times for an eventual stoppage win in the seventh round.

The first round was moving along with little action, until Crocker landed a big left in the closing seconds to drop Greene.

The fight was a back and forth affair, with Crocker having the edge. During the seventh, Crocker banged away at the body and head and sent Greene down for a second time. Greene made it up, but he was dropped down for a third time after another combination of shots. He appeared to be very hurt upon rising to his feet, with the referee waving off the fight.

In a welterweight clash, Liam Taylor (22-1-1, 10 KOs) won a ten round unanimous decision over previously undefeated Darren Tetley (20-1, 9 KOs). The scores were 96-93, 96-93, and 95-93.

Tetley started very strong with his boxing in the first round. Taylor closed the gap in the second, landing very hard shots to the head and body to drop Tetley. Taylor went for the finish, with Tetely fighting him off.

Tetley was doing well in the third, but he was down for a second time after getting tagged by another Taylor right hand. During the fourth, Taylor rocked him again with hard punches.

During the fifth, it was Tetely who managed to hurt Taylor with hard punches and he rallied on in the sixth. The fight continued in a give and take manner until the fight was over with both boxers having moments.

Rising bantamweight Lee McGregor (9-0, 7 KOs) beat down and stopped Ryan Walker (11-2) in the fifth round.

McGregor was damaging the body of Walker from the start. In the opening moments of the fifth, McGregor landed a big right hand that decked Walker hard. Walker struggled to get up and the referee Phil Edwards waved off the fight.

Irish lightweight contender Gary Cully (11-0, 5 KOs) was forced to get off the mat after being dropped in the fifth, to win an eight round decision over Craig Woodruff (10-6). The referee’s sole score was 77-75.

James McGivern (1-0) made his pro debut with a six round decision over Jamie Quinn (7-103). The referee’s sole score was 60-54.

Fearghus Quinn (1-0) made his pro debut with a six round decision over Robbie Chapman (6-4). The referee’s sole score was 60-54.
