The bronze medalist for Mexico at the Rio 2016 Olympic games, Misael ‘Chino’ Rodriguez, and the also Olympian Lindolfo Delgado, signed agreements with the renowned manager Rick Mirigian, who guides the career of WBC, WBO junior welterweight champion Jose Ramirez, and also WBA “regular” champion Joshua Franco.
Misael (10-0, 5 KO’s) and Lindolfo (11-0, 11 KO’s) have not fought since September of last year, when they were still with Ringstar Promotions and were fighting on Premier Boxing Champions cards on US soil and Promociones del Pueblo events in Mexico.
Rodriguez and Lindolfo, Ramírez and Franco train with the respected Mexican-American coach Robert Garcia on Californian soil.
“We closed [the deal] yesterday with Rick. We met them through Jose [Ramirez], we began to hear good things from him about his work, and after some problems with my previous team, not with my trainers, we felt Rick was the best option,” said Rodriguez to ESPN Deportes.
“He told us that he sees a lot of potential in us and that we can do great things with good management and being active,” added Misael, who pointed out that he does not have a promoter at the moment.
Both Misael and Lindolfo will continue training with Robert García in California, waiting to reactivate their careers.
“I think I have matured as a fighter and also as a person, but it remains to be demonstrated inside the ring and after a year it is what I am looking for,” explained Misael, pride of Parral, Chihuahua.
“As it is not a short-term signing with Rick, I plan to become world champion, little by little, but for now I want to go step by step at first and come back and feel good.”
