The excellent but thoroughly cursed vacant WBO flyweight title fight between top prospect Junto Nakatani and hard-hitting Giemel Magramo appears to finally have a set date. Asian Boxing reports that the fight has been scheduled for Friday, November 6th at Korakuen Hall.
The matchup, meant to fill the void left behind when former champion Kosei Tanaka moved up to 115 pounds, was initially booked for April before a combination of COVID and visa issues thoroughly hobbled it. It’s a relief that we’ll finally see it, as Nakatani (20-0, 15 KO) looks like a beast at just 22 years old and the 26-year-old Magramo (24-1, 20 KO) is riding a seven-fight knockout streak.
Nakatani notably stopped Milan Melindo in October of last year, while “Pistolero” was a point deduction away from drawing with Muhammad Waseem in his sole defeat back in 2016. Both are in BoxRec’s top five at 112 pounds.
