Former heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder has finally broken his silence after months of being quiet.
In a video posted to Instagram, Wilder made accusations that Tyson Fury loaded his gloves for their rematch in February – which he claims created “a dent” in his head and caused his ear to bleed.
Fury dominated Wilder and stopped him in seven rounds to capture the WBC heavyweight title.
Also in the video, Wilder called former co-trainer Mark Breland “disloyal” for throwing in the towel to stop the February contest during the seventh. Wilder parted ways with Breland a few weeks ago.
There was a rematch clause, which Wilder exercised. The third fight was initially scheduled for July and pushed back several times due to the coronavirus pandemic.
A few weeks ago, Fury and his handlers announced that Wilder had allowed the rematch clause to expire – so they aim to move forward in another direction with a December 5th fight in the UK, with Carlos Takam and Agit Kabayel as the frontrunners to face him.
“Fury, it is time for you to be a man and honor your agreement. What is this bullsh-t of you fighting Carlos Takam instead of me, you got to be kidding. When you were going through your darkest time, I told you that if you got yourself together I would give you a title shot. Being a man of my word, I gave you the title shot [in December 2018],” Wilder stated.
“When that fight was a draw, I told you that I would give you a rematch. You know I was offered more money to fight Joshua than I was getting to fight you. Again being a man of my word, I fought you like I said I would.
“In the rematch agreement, there was a rematch clause. Now it is time for you to be a man and honor your word, instead of trying to weasel out of our agreement. Scared people run but a [scared] man will break his contract you coward azz bitch!”
