The late Marvelous Marvin Hagler’s wife Kay G. Hagler took to social media to refute claims that the legendary fighter’s recent death was due to the COVID vaccine, writing bluntly, “For sure wasn’t the vaccine that caused his death” as part of a larger statement on Facebook:
Hagler died this past Friday at the age of 66, and has been fondly remembered by those in boxing, boxing fans all over the world, and people who have long stopped caring much about the sport overall.
Hagler fought from 1973-87, reigning as middleweight champion of the world from 1980-87, when he retired following a hugely controversial loss to Sugar Ray Leonard. He had a career record of 62-3-2 (52 KO) and is known as one of the all-time greats, one of the best middleweight champions ever, and a key cog of the “Four Kings” era in 1980s boxing, which some still remember as the last truly great era for the sport.
