As BoxingScene.com reported, WBA heavyweight champion in recess Mahmoud ‘Manuel’ Charr (31-4) takes on undefeated American Christopher Lovejoy (19-0, 19 KO’s) on May 15 at the EC Boxing Gym in Hamburg, Germany, in what appears to be a non-title fight.
Charr last fought in 2017 but has been scheduled to fight a number of times since then. The last time was in January when Charr was scheduled to fight Trevor Bryan in Hollywood, Florida, but eventually couldn’t get a visa to the US.
As for Lovejoy he retired in March but is now apparently back again. All of his wins have come in Mexico and mainly against fighters with losing records.
