The first Boxeo Telemundo show to take place in Mexico since the pandemic moves forward without interruption.
All boxers made weight for Friday’s show, which airs live on Telemundo from Auditorio Blackberry in Mexico City. Headlining the show, Jair ‘Kaiser’ Valtierra and Emanuel ‘Pollo’ Lopez collide in a 10-round regional lightweight title fight.
Valtierra (14-0, 7KOs) weighed 134 pounds, while Chiapas’ Lopez (30-12-1, 14KOs) weighed in right at the 135-pound divisional limit.
Friday’s show is the first for the Boxeo Telemundo series to land in Mexico since March 13, 2020, which marked the last U.S. televised event to take place with fans in attendance prior to the pandemic. Leon, Mexico’s Valtierra was on the undercard for the show, having since added two wins off TV before returning to the ring Friday evening—this time as the headlining act.
Lopez fights for the first time since September 2019.
The scheduled 10-round bout will air live Friday evening beginning 12:00 a.m. ET/11:00 p.m. local and Central time.
