Eight bouts in the women’s flyweight division take place Thursday afternoon at Kokugikan Arena in Tokyo. All four top seeds appear in the Round of 16, beginning with number-one ranked Buse Naz Cakiroglu (Turkey) versus Tursunoy Rakhimova (Uzbekistan) in the first bout.
Featured later in the day, Ginny Fuchs (USA) looks to pick up her second win in the Tokyo Olympics. The Houston-bred southpaw advanced to the Round of 16 following a hard-fought win over Svetlana Soluianova (ROC) and will next face two-time Olympian Stoyka Krasteva (Bulgaria). The bout comes five months after the two met in the 2021 Strandja Memorial semifinals, with Krasteva claiming a split decision win.
