Frank Warren, the promoter for unbeaten prospect Tommy Fury (7-0, 4 KOs), would love to finalize a deal for his man to face Youtube star Jake Paul (4-0, 3 KOs).
This past Sunday night in Cleveland, the two boxers were featured on the same Showtime Pay-Per-View card.
For his part, Fury won a four round unanimous decision over Anthony Taylor, who is Paul’s sparring partner.
And in the main event, Paul picked up an eight round split decision over former UFC champion Tyron Woodley.
Warren would like to get that contest on UK soil.
“Yes, it could [happen next] and we’d try to get it in the UK,” Fury’s promoter Frank Warren told Sky Sports.
In the aftermath of the event, Fury and Paul had a heated verbal confrontation backstage.
The two rivals were pulled apart by their respective teams.
“If he didn’t have his security team with him, he would have walked straight past me,” said Fury.
“He is big in front of cameras but small by himself. There was a moment in that corridor, when everything was going off between his security and my team. It was just me and him. I looked dead into his soul. If the cameras aren’t around, he doesn’t want to know.
“If you want the fight, I’m ready to go. No running, no playing. It’s fine if you don’t want the fight. Just say it. Put everyone’s mind at rest. I want the fight. I’ve done my part, he did his part. Why not make the fight next? It’s on the tip of everyone’s tongues.”
