Teofimo Lopez vs. George Kambosos Jr. has, for what’s hopefully the final time, gotten another new date. Mike Coppinger reports that the now-official fight has been bumped from October 5th to Monday, October 4th to avoid running head-to-head with a Yankees-Red Sox game.
The location hasn’t changed at least; it’ll still land in the 5,000-capacity Hulu Theater at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
No fight has been more emblematic of Triller’s ill fortune than this one. First Lopez said it would take place on May 29th, then they announced it for June 19th. Then Lopez got COVID, sending the fight bouncing from August 14th to September 11th to October 17th to October 5th before finally settling on this new date.
At least the saga’s been morbidly entertaining, like watching Ryan Kavanaugh chase some great, stupid white whale just waiting to drag him into the depths. We’ll let you know as soon as the next bit goes wrong.
