Yoka-Milas and Hrgovic-Radonjic: Live coverage, 2 pm ET

Fighting

Since neither of these cards are exactly worth dedicated normal coverage but we do have two big name heavyweight rising stars in action on DAZN and ESPN+ this afternoon, we’re just going to combo up the coverage, let’s watch some fights, chat about them down in the comments, and see what we can see today.

Here’s a look at what’s on tap for Tony Yoka and Filip Hrgovic, two guys who hope to be in the heavyweight title mix sooner than later.

DAZN, 2:00 pm ET

  • From Klagenfurt, Austria: Hrgovic (12-0, 10 KO) takes on Montenegro’s Marko Radonjic (22-0, 22 KO), who has quite the flashy looking record when you type it out like that for a 31-year-old guy who’s ranked No. 231 in the world by BoxRec. He’s never fought anyone good and mostly has fought complete cans. Other than getting Hrgovic a fight, this is pretty pointless, but it is getting Hrgovic a fight. Since it’s Matchroom, there are also fights on the card for super middleweight John Ryder and junior welterweight prospect Dalton Smith, both facing club-level opponents. Also notable, uh, kinda: Former European heavyweight champion Zeljko Mavrovic will be fighting for the first time since his 1998 loss to Lennox Lewis. Mavrovic is 52 years old.

ESPN+, 2:45 pm ET

  • From Paris: Yoka (10-0, 8 KO) faces Croatia’s Peter Milas (15-0, 11 KO), which may not be the most amazing matchup ever, but it looks a lot better than Hrgovic-Radonjic does, anyway. Milas is at least a pretty competent European level heavyweight. There’s also a good matchup at level for the vacant European light heavyweight title between veterans Igor Mikhalkin (24-2, 11 KO) and Mathieu Bauderlique (20-1, 11 KO), plus a return for 154 lb hopeful Souleymane Cissokho (13-0, 8 KO) against Ismail Iliev (13-2-1, 3 KO), and more.
