Following a thrilling couple of weeks in the heavyweight division, here are 10 potential heavyweights fights to whet the appetite…
- Tyson Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk
It’s the natural fight to be made now that Fury has seen off Wilder once and for all and Usyk has emerged as a genuine heavyweight force after beating Anthony Joshua. - Oleksandr Usyk vs Anthony Joshua II
Joshua has been quick to trigger his rematch clause and set the wheels in motion for a Usyk sequel but few will be as keen to back him as they were first time around. - Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua
It should have happened long ago, and it may never be as important as it once could have been, but an all-British showdown between Fury and Joshua still arguably represents the biggest fight in the heavyweight division. - Tyson Fury vs Dillian Whyte
This seems next on the agenda for Fury, the fight having been ordered by the WBC, and, should it go ahead, will offer Whyte his long overdue shot. - Oleksandr Usyk vs Joe Joyce
Usyk beat Joyce when the pair boxed as amateurs in the World Series of Boxing but Joyce, and indeed Usyk, have improved considerably since then and the blend of styles would no doubt produce a fascinating pro fight. - Deontay Wilder vs Andy Ruiz
Though it is not yet known whether Wilder will ever be the same after his third encounter with Fury, a return against someone like Ruiz, when good and ready, could be just the kind of fight the ‘Bronze Bomber’ needs to get back on track. - Joe Joyce vs Tony Yoka
These two met in the final of the 2016 Olympics (a bout Yoka won) and a return fight as pros would at some stage be welcome. - Michael Hunter vs Filip Hrgovic
Hunter is the man nobody really wants to fight and Hrgović is the top prospect whose ceiling is still to be decided. - Agit Kabayel vs Murat Gassiev
One for the European audience, a fight between Kabayel and Gassiev would mark a much-needed step up for Kabayel, the former European champion, and also the first real heavyweight test for Gassiev. - Luis Ortiz vs Frank Sanchez
Having just beaten fellow prospect Efe Ejagba, how about Cuban Frank Sánchez fights countryman Luis Ortiz at some point in 2022? Ortiz, a man 13 years Sánchez’s senior, is not getting any younger and Sánchez has momentum.
