Social media star Jake Paul is looking to have at least five more boxing matches before walking away from the sport, at least as an active fighter.
Last year, Paul had three fights – with a first round stoppage of MMA veteran Ben Askren, an eight round split decision over former UFC champion Tyron Woodley, and a brutal one-punch knockout of Woodley in their December rematch.
Last month, Paul was initially scheduled to face Tommy Fury, the younger brother of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury, before the British fighter was replaced by Woodley.
Fury withdrew with a fractured rib and chest infection.
While he wants to face Paul next, there are plenty of other names who are trying to chase down Paul – including former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.
“The sky is the limit for me right now and if I want to accomplish something it’s all about me being able to do that and me making the commitment and putting in the work required to do that,” Paul told ESPN.
“But I think right now, going to 10-0, being undefeated, fighting some big names, making history and maybe taking a world championship belt from somebody just to say I did it, and retiring at 10-0.”
After he’s done with boxing, Paul has not ruled out the possibility of a making a switch to mixed martial arts.
“When I make my MMA debut, I could cut 20 pounds and do it at welterweight/170 pounds. That’s what all UFC fighters do and many have destroyed their bodies and minds doing it. But I’m going do it at middleweight [185]. Health first. P.S. Conor [McGregor is] walking around at 190-pounds,” Paul said.
