Deontay Wilder

This week’s panellists were asked to close their eyes and imagine what would happen should the paths of Deontay Wilder and Dereck Chisora cross

Jordan Gill (Current European featherweight champion)

It’s a fight I really don’t want to see. Dereck is a cult hero of the sport and delivers entertainment every time he steps in the ropes, but he’s not exactly renowned for being elusive. Wilder has life-changing power and could KO anyone he hits. Let’s not encourage it. I’d prefer to see the Chisora vs. Dillian Whyte trilogy.

Wayne Alexander (Former European super-welterweight champion)

I can only see one winner in a potential fight between Chisora and Deontay Wilder, and that’s a stoppage win for Wilder in a war. As much as I would want the Brit to win, I believe that Chisora has seen better days and is the more shot fighter of the two. He just scraped a decision against an ageing Kubrat Pulev and was hurt on a couple of occasions. Wilder has only looked vulnerable against elite fighters.

Ryan Walsh (Former British featherweight champion)

I’d love Derrick to gas him and outlast him, but Deontay Wilder really does carry that game-changer. Unfortunately, over 12 rounds I think he’d land it.

Tyrone McKenna (Super-lightweight contender)

I love Dereck and his mindset of always going to war. He’s entertaining but he’s hit too easily for a man of Wilder’s power. I think Wilder wins in the middle rounds.
