Los Angeles – In a lightweight scrap, Edwin De Los Santos (15-1, 14 KOs) came in on late notice and took down undefeated Jose Valenzuela (12-1, 8 KOs) in the third round. (photos by Ruan Hafey)
De Los Santos came out very strong, with hard punches that stunned Valenzuela and had him on shaky legs near the end of the first. In the second, De Los Santos continued to tag up Valenzuela and had him on shaky legs once again with hard jabs and hard hooks – but he landed a combination that put De Los Santos down. However, De Los Santos then dropped Valenzuela with a series of punches but lost a point for hitting Valenzuela while he was down.
At the start of the third, an exchange of power shots put Valenzuela down for a second time. De Los Santos unloaded a few more hard shots and the fight was waved off.
