UFC Fight Pass, 10:30 pm ET, Santiago Dominguez vs Jose Rosario Cazarez, Luis Torres vs Jose Luis Vazquez. RJJ Boxing is BACK! Unbeaten welterweight Dominguez faces off with Cazarez, but the better fight might actually be the Torres-Vazquez co-feature at 130. There will be two more fights, too. I know I bailed early on the Fight Pass show last Thursday, but let’s be clear: it was really very bad and I was bored and there was no reason to keep watching it. (And I wasn’t the only one displeased with that show, by the way.) So yeah, we’ll be here. Promise! Unless it’s really bad and then I might leave again, because frankly it just doesn’t matter that much. Let me put it another way: live coverage will definitely start. BLH will have live coverage.
Wednesday, Aug. 26
ESPN+, 5:00 am ET, Jeff Horn vs Tim Tszyu. Jeff Horn is really never in boring fights and Tim Tszyu could break out as a star in the next year or two, and this is his time to really kick that to the next stage if he’s going to do it. It’s a really good matchup, should be a good fight, and we’ll be here. This is a full card show, so I’d expect the main event no earlier than 8 am ET, but we’ll update if we get word on that, too. But I’ll be here from the start so let’s rock on a Wednesday early morning, my friends. BLH will have live coverage.
ESPN+, 2:00 pm ET, Lewis Crocker vs Louis Greene, Lee McGregor vs Ryan Walker. MTK’s Fight Night is headlined by the welterweight matchup, which is a solid matchup, and we’ll also have Darren Tetley vs Liam Taylor in another nice looking welterweight fight. But the best reason to tune in might be McGregor, who looks a legitimate rising contender at 122. He had some trouble last time out with Kash Farooq, but I really think that was just Farooq proving he can fight, too. McGregor is someone to watch. BLH will have live coverage.
Thursday, Aug. 27
UFC Fight Pass, 10:30 pm ET, Juan Jose Barajas vs Jose Resendiz. RJJ Boxing is BACK! AGAIN! Barajas is an unbeaten 23-year-old super middleweight, and Resendiz is an unbeaten 21-year-old super middleweight, so this is a nice ShoBox-style main event. There will be three more fights on the show. BLH will have live coverage.
Friday, Aug. 28
Telemundo, 11:35 pm ET, Belmar Preciado vs Dennis Contreras.
Saturday, Aug. 29
ESPN+, 2:00 pm ET, Daniel Dubois vs Ricardo Snijders, Sunny Edwards vs Thomas Essomba, Sam Maxwell vs Joe Hughes. Dubois is back, facing late replacement Snijders, who wouldn’t be here if anyone thought he could win. Dubois’ main goal right now is to win, no cuts or anything, and move on to an October fight with Joe Joyce — maybe. Frank Warren has been adamant he won’t do that without a crowd, and it’s iffy at best that October will have crowds for UK boxing. Edwards-Essomba has some quiet potential for an upset, as talented as Edwards is. BLH will have live coverage.
ESPN+, 7:30 pm ET, Jose Ramirez vs Viktor Postol, Arnold Barboza Jr vs Tony Luis. Ramirez defends his WBC and WBO junior welterweight titles against former titlist and current WBC mandatory Postol. This fight is forever linked with the coronavirus; it was the first notable event that was canceled by the pandemic, even before it really made it out of China, as these two were supposed to fight Feb. 1 in China. Then it was going to be May. Now it’s finally happening in August. They’ve certainly had a while to think about it. Barboza-Luis isn’t a terrible co-feature. BLH will have live coverage.
FOX, 8:00 pm ET, Erislandy Lara vs Greg Vendetti, Alfredo Angulo vs Caleb Truax. Lara is defending his secondary WBA “world” title against Vendetti, who has no business in a world title fight, even a bogus world title fight. I hate to be that shitty about it, because I’ve seen Vendetti fight and he’s perfectly fun to watch at his level. But Lara is well beyond his level. Angulo and Truax are both past their best days by a fair amount but Angulo’s minor upset of Peter Quillin was a pretty fun fight last year. PBC’s FOX schedule has been roundly criticized since announced, and this is probably the weakest of the shows they’ve announced thus far. BLH will have live coverage.
FS1, 10:00 pm ET, Lara-Vendetti Postlims. There will be something airing on FS1, more likely than not. Depending on what it is, I might stick around through those fights. Actually depending on whether or not I have anything else to do, I suppose would be more accurate. But the post will be there for those of you who watch either way.
