Derek Chisora has always been a little weird, which has manifested itself at times in displays of bizarre behavior, at other times in a seeming aloofness, and yet others in comical fashion.
None of those truly describe this Instagram video of him preparing for Oleksandr Usyk, a fight that is expected to finally happen on Oct. 31. Here, he has David Haye battering him in his prone midsection. Chisora must be expecting Usyk to go to the body a good bit:
Obviously it’s not big news or whatever, but it’s a fun look at the 36-year-old Chisora (32-9, 23 KO), who has a chance, believe it or not, to once again insert himself into the world title mix if he can knock off the unbeaten former undisputed cruiserweight champion Usyk.
Usyk (17-0, 13 KO) will be fighting for just the second time as a heavyweight, and it’s expected to be a much more serious test for him than Chazz Witherspoon was last year, and even considering that was pretty easy as far as getting a win, the 33-year-old Usyk left people with some real questions about how he’ll do against a “true,” more serious heavyweight opponent.
We’ll see, hopefully on that Oct. 31 date. It’s potentially a really interesting fight, and we’ll learn a lot more about Usyk as a heavyweight no matter how it goes down.
