As bantamweight Jason Moloney prepares for the most daunting task of his career, facing Naoya Inoue this Saturday night in the MGM bubble, Moloney tells RingTV that this fight is the opportunity he’s been seeking his entire life — an opportunity to prove himself as the best bantamweight in the world.
Moloney says that he feels 100% ready for this shot to really make a name for himself in the sport, and while not dismissing Inoue’s skills, he also isn’t allowing himself to become enamored by them.
“Inoue is an exceptional fighter with great speed and knockout power,” he said. “But all fighters have a weakness, and no fighter is unbeatable.
“I think Inoue is reckless at times and he is there to be hit. Obviously you have to be good enough to capitalize on these opportunities but I believe that I can do it.”
Moloney enters this fight as the sizeable underdog, but says he relishes that role as it provides him the chance to prove all doubters wrong. Moloney, 29, comes into this fight off a stoppage win over Leonardo Baez, his fourth in a row. Meanwhile Inoue, 27, most recently won a decision over Nonito Donaire last November, which wound up being named Fight of the Year.
