Rising Colorado star Anthony Soto has been gaining high class experience prior to his third pro outing on February 20 in Orlando, Florida.
Soto is well regarded within the buzzing Colorado boxing scene, a scene that hosts training camps for the likes of pound-for-pound king Terence Crawford.
The USA National Amateur setup also uses Colorado as a home base for many of its camps.
Another world-class fighter who does his work in Colorado is world super featherweight champion Jamel Herring, who readies himself for the challenge of Ireland’s Carl Frampton in the coming months.
Soto enjoyed the time he spent with Herring in training camp and was grateful to get the opportunity to spar rounds with him.
“Herring is a fantastic professional and a world-class fighter of course. Being able to learn from him in the ring is priceless. It’s making me such a better fighter being able to do rounds with Jamel and I’m very thankful to him for allowing me to do that.
“When you go to world-class camps you learn a lot about fighters outside of the ring. You begin to understand why they are champions. A lot of this comes down to lifestyle and professional choices. Jamel is a world-class professional. He lives, eats, and sleeps boxing. That’s what you have to do to become a champion.
“This fight is Frampton is going to be a great fight. I know I’m biased but I can’t see past a Herring victory. His skills and style are all wrong for Frampton and I believe that will be the difference on the night of the fight. Styles make fights.”
The young prospect then opened up about his upcoming third outing.
“I’m excited to get back in the ring and fight again. It’s been hard with the pandemic so thank you to Andre Rozier and the team for keeping me active and my trainer Gilbert Trujillo for keeping me focused and prepared for what’s ahead. That’s why I’m always ready when the call comes,” Soto said.
“I’m enjoying my time as a pro and getting ready for fights. That’s all I do really. I focus on training and improving. I have a great support structure around me that gives me the opportunity to continue to improve. I’m excited to show off those improvements on February 20 in Orlando.”
