WBO, IBF, IBO, WBA heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua says he is ready for battle with Tyson Fury, who holds the WBC world titles.
Their respective teams are currently engaged in serious negotiations to finalize a fight for the summer.
The location, due to COVID restrictions, is still up in the air – but Joshua is open to facing Fury anywhere.
“[The pandemic] is getting close to things being normal. We’re working on a date for around June. So if Tyson is serious, which I think he is, he’ll know where to come and find the boss,” Joshua told Sky Sports.
“I’m ready. I’m really looking forward to competition – all I want to do is fight, fight, fight!”
Fury has been out of action for over a year, with his last bout taking place in February 2020 when he stopped Deontay Wilder in seven rounds to capture the WBC title.
Joshua was in the ring in December, when he stopped mandatory challenger Kubrat Pulev.
He wants the fight with Fury to come off – regardless of location.
“Any option. Home turf, Middle East, my back garden, your back garden. I don’t mind where it is. I’m just ready to fight. I want that belt. I want to compete with Fury so all options are open to me,” Joshua said.
Eddie Hearn, who promotes Joshua, is hoping to finalize the fight in the coming weeks.
“Contracts have been backwards and forwards. Only minor details to be resolved on both ends. We’re in a good place. AJ was in the office yesterday with us. We had a good meeting to finalize our side of stuff,” Hearn said.
“We’re on the verge now of getting this fight done. We want to make sure the ink is dry, and then we’ll go out and finalize the site details.”
