American viewers, or at least ones without VPNs, won’t be totally bereft of boxing action this Saturday, as FITE will stream Queensberry’s Joe Joyce vs. Carlos Takam card stateside.
Those interested will need to pony up $12.99, or around 1/3rd of a monthly BT Sport subscription.
Joyce (12-0, 11 KO) hasn’t fought since Daniel Dubois’ face in November, though he’s not to blame for the inactivity; the interminable wait for Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua kept him from ever finalizing a fight with WBO mandatory challenger Oleksandr Usyk, and when Fury-Joshua fell apart, Usyk got the call to meet “AJ.” In stepped Takam (39-5-1, 28 KO), who’s won four straight since consecutive stoppage losses to Joshua and Dereck Chisora.
The card will also see Chris Jenkins defend his British and Commonwealth titles against Ekow Essuman, rising prospect Hamzah Sheeraz take on Ezequiel Gurria, and Chris Bourke take on James Beech Jr.
