On Tuesday, a press conference took place to promote the upcoming fight between Alexander Besputin and the current WBC Latino welterweight champion Mauricio Pintor.
The contest will take place on September 11 at the Central Stadium of Krasnoyarsk.
Besputin is a former WBA “regular” champion, as well as a USBA Boxing Association (USBA) in the same weight category.
“I’m happy to be boxing in Russia. I had suggestions from other companies to fight in America and England, but I rejected them for a fight in Krasnoyarsk,” Besputin said.
“I will take advantage of every opportunity to get a WBC belt, because it gives a lot of opportunities for growth. When I lived in America in the city of Oxnard, I worked out with a lot of Mexicans. I’m very familiar with their culture. That’s why I have a special fight, a special belt, a special opponent. I am very happy to support countrymen. This is motivating.”
