Carl Frampton Favors Jake Paul To Beat Tommy Fury in Showdown

Former two division world champion Carl Frampton is backing Youtube star turned boxer, Jake Paul, to come away with a victory over unbeaten prospect Tommy Fury, who is the younger brother of WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.

The 24-year-old Paul (4-0, 3 KOs) is facing the first pro boxer of his career, with Fury (7-0, 4 KOs) being his toughest test to date on paper.

Their Showtime Pay-Per-View bout takes place on December 18 in Tampa Bay, Florida.

Fury, who comes from a very respected fighting family, has his back against the wall in a make or break fight.

Like Paul, the 22-year-old boxer is trying to earn his respect in the ring. A loss to Paul would be crippling to any future aspirations as a serious prizefighter.

Fury had some struggles in winning a four round decision back in August, over combat sports veteran Anthony Taylor. On the same card, which took place in Cleveland, Paul won an eight round decision over former UFC world champion Tyron Woodley.

When sizing the two men up, Frampton is picking Paul to win.

“I think that it’s a huge fight and if I’m being honest, I’d probably favor Jake Paul in the fight,” said Frampton to Joe.co.uk.

“He carefully picked his opponents obviously and he’s not fought a boxer yet, but the first boxer he’s fighting is a guy who’s a relative novice in the grand scheme of things and who seems to have issues going more than four rounds.

“So I think that I would favor Jake Paul in that fight and then we hear him, as mad as it may sound, he’s beat a real boxer, although it’s Tommy Fury, he starts calling out Gervonta Davis, Canelo [Álvarez] it’s mental. But, yeah I’d favor him in the fight against Tommy Fury.”
