WBA, IBF, WBC Franchise, WBO champion George Kambosos is still over the moon, soaking in his tremendous upset from last Saturday night at the Hulu Theater in New York’s Madison Square Garden.
Kambosos shocked the experts when he dropped and outboxed Teofimo Lopez to secure a twelve round split decision and four title belts.
Since the stunning victory, a who’s who of top fighters from 130 to 135 have been calling for fights with Kambosos.
The unbeaten Aussie is ready for all comers and expects to become a much better fighter in the coming year.
“Obviously I’m the top dog now, I’m the one who is being hunted now, I’m not the hunter anymore. I’m the shot caller now, I’ve got all the belts, so we will make the right decision. We’ll see who best fits the fight. A lot will come to get it, but they will get the same treatment as Lopez got,” Kambosos told The Sydney Morning Herald.
“They say when you win your first world title, you get 20 percent better. I’ve just claimed six of them, so you’re going to see me 120 per cent better now. I’m just going to get better and better every day. I’ll stay humble, stay focused, stay in the gym to perfect my craft. I just cleaned up everything, so you can expect a way better Kambosos in my next fight in early 2022.”
Despite the heavy pre-fight animosity, Kambosos indicated that it was never personal with Lopez.
“I came on a mission, it was never personal for me. I came for business, that’s why for the press conference I looked like I’d just come from Wall Street, ringing the bell. [On Saturday] night, I rang a lot of bells in Lopez’s head. I rang the bells and took the belts,” Kambosos said.
