Eye of the Tiger is thrilled to welcome elite boxer Mary Spencer (3-0-0, 2 KOs) within its ranks. The ex-Olympian, triple world champion, and gold medalist at the 2011 Pan American Games will step into the ring for her first fight as a member of EOTTM at EOTTM’s third and final event of its 10th Anniversary Series on Saturday, March 26 at the Cabaret du Casino de Montréal, on the undercard of the Christian Mbilli vs Nadjib Mohammedi headline bout.

“Women’s boxing is on fire right now and I’m excited to show Canadian fans what women can do. I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to team up with the best promoter in the country to showcase my ability to box, fight and entertain!,” declared Spencer.

Spencer turned pro in August of 2021, after enjoying a stellar career at the amateur level that included 177 fights, as well as the opportunity of representing Canada internationally several times. Not only did Spencer place 5th in the 75 kg category at the 2012 London Olympic Games, where women’s boxing made its inaugural appearance, she also fought at four World Championships, winning three gold medals (2005 Russia – 66 kg, 2008 China – 66 kg and 2010 Barbados – 75 kg) and a bronze (2006 India – 66 kg). She also took home gold at the 2011 Mexico Pan American Games.

The Ontario boxer is one of the most successful athletes in the history of Canadian boxing. She has chosen to pursue her career in Montreal, where she trains with Ian Mackillop.

“We think that her the experience she has gleaned at the amateur level, as well as her boxing style, which is well suited to professional boxing, will allow her to rapidly rise to the top of the pro ranks. Whether at 147 lbs or 154 lbs, she will easily overcome the reigning champs by the end of 2022 or the start of 2023,” says Marc Ramsay.
