Tyson Fury Warns Deontay Wilder: I Won’t Wait Forever

Boxing Scene

WBC heavyweight champion Tyson Fury is baiting Deontay Wilder to come out in public.

For the most part, very little has been heard from Wilder since suffering his first career defeat back in February, when Fury stopped him in seven rounds to capture the WBC world title at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

In the first bout, Fury and Wilder fought to a controversial twelve round split draw in December 2018.

After suffering his stoppage loss, Wilder exercised his contractual option for an immediate rematch.

The third fight was scheduled for July – but later postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Initially a date in October was targeted, and then later pushed back to the tentative date of December 19th.

“Where you at mush? The clock is ticking!! I’m not gonna wait forever!!! There [are] other bums in the division that I want to eat for breakfast,” Fury stated.

The biggest issue with staging the trilogy fight is figuring out the financial aspects of the contest.

Fury’s promoters, Bob Arum of Top Rank and Frank Warren of Queensberry, would prefer to have some form of a crowd for the bout. The rematch generated a gate of nearly $17 million.

The winner of the trilogy would be bound by a WBC order to make a mandatory defense against Dillian Whyte – should he beat Alexander Povetkin on Saturday night at Matchroom’s Fight Camp in Brentwood.

Whyte is backing Fury to win the third fight.

“I’ve got a feeling Fury will beat Wilder then vacate [his WBC title] then try and fight Joshua without the belt,” Whyte told Sky Sports. “I’ve got a feeling that’s what he will do.

“He doesn’t show any interest in a fight with me. They are already trying to put obstacles in the way of fighting me. He said when he beat Wilder that he would fight me because I deserved it. Blah blah blah. Typical Fury, he says one thing today and one thing tomorrow. Hopefully he does fight me because it’s a big fight, and winnable for me.”
