Prograis signs one-fight deal with PBC for Davis-Santa Cruz card

Former junior welterweight titleholder Regis Prograis (24-1, 20 KOs) has reportedly signed a one-off deal with Premier Boxing Champions, where he’ll face Juan Heraldez (16-0-1, 10 KOs) on October 24 on the undercard of the Gervonta Davis vs Leo Santa Cruz pay-per-view.

Prograis, 30, is most recently coming off a majority decision loss to Josh Taylor in the WBSS final last October, and has since had his name connected to various different potential fights. Prograis had been slated to take on Maurice Hooker a couple of times, the first of which got derailed by COVID-19 while the second ended up crumbling over a weight dispute. Prograis then had a little exchange with Adrien Broner, but nothing ever materialized on that front either.

Enter Juan Heraldez, 30, who comes into this fight off a majority draw with Agenis Mendez in May 2019. It would appear that Prograis should be the heavy favorite to win here, but if Heraldez is to make a name for himself, this is certainly a fight to do it.
