FITE to carry Lomachenko-Lopez in UK

It won’t come quite as cheap as in the States, where viewers can watch it on ESPN for free, but UK fans now have a legal means by which to watch Vasiliy Lomachenko vs. Teofimo Lopez on October 17th. Top Rank announced today that FITE “have acquired the exclusive rights in the UK” and will air the event for £9.99 ($12.89).

“We could have not picked a better partner for this fight than FITE,” said Top Rank Boxing Chairman, Bob Arum. “FITE will make this event available to every boxing fan in the UK regardless of the subscription networks they have or don’t have. No subscription is needed for this. To order PPV events on FITE, all you need is an internet connection. It couldn’t be simpler. Enjoy the fight.”

Now the only things standing between the British boxing public and elite lightweight action are an internet connection and the cruel reality of time zones. 2:00 AM local time is, of course, the ideal boxing hour.

In addition to the main event, which is for all intents and purposes a clash for undisputed rulership of the 135-pound division, the card features an interesting super lightweight clash between Arnold Barboza Jr. and Alex Saucedo alongside Edgar Berlanga vs. Lanell Bellows and bubble bruiser Clay Collard against former foe Quincy LaVallais in a middleweight rematch.
