WBO super middleweight champion Billy Joe Saunders believes UFC superstar Conor McGregor would do serious damage on Youtuber Jake Paul – if the two of them come together for a boxing match.
Last month, Paul raised his boxing record to 2-0, with 2 KOs, when he brutally knocked out NBA veteran Nate Robinson in two rounds. The contest was the pay-per-view co-feature to the high profile exhibition clash between Mike Tyson and Roy Jones.
The 23-year-old Paul has now been chasing down McGregor for a boxing match.
He sent McGregor a guarantee of $50 million to do the fight – and Paul claims to have proof of funds to back up the offer.
“My team sent you a $50 million offer this morning, $50 million cash, proof of funds, the biggest fight offer you’ve ever been offered. But you’re scared to fight me Conor. You duck me as you’re scared to fight a YouTuber. You’re 0-1 as a boxer, I’m 2-0 as a boxer. I just came off the eighth-biggest pay-per-view event in history,” Paul said.
While McGregor has stayed quiet, several other UFC names – like Amanda Nunes and Michael Bisping – have raised their hands to fight Paul.
McGregor made his boxing debut in August of 2017, when he was stopped in ten rounds by Floyd Mayweather.
Saunders believes McGregor would really do a number on Paul.
“You don’t really want them throwing punches at each other because I can see [McGregor] knock someone out cold, that fella [Paul] never had a fight in his life. You can clearly see boxing is not a playground. I think Conor McGregor will spark him and hurt him bad in UFC or boxing. I still think Conor McGregor takes him bad, to be honest,” Saunders told IFL TV.
“If they’re looking at, what is it? 50 million? Conor McGregor should go and whoop his ass and take that off him because it’ll be very comfortable. But it’s very dangerous [for the safety of Paul]. If they’re all going to make money and the promoters are going to put in on, who am I to say it’s not good?”
