Here are 10 other potential all-British fights to savour

1. Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua
Still the biggest fight in the sport, particularly in Great Britain, it would be a crying shame if heavyweights Fury and Joshua never met in the ring. But that seems more and more likely to be the case as time passes.

2. Josh Taylor vs Jack Catterall II
A rematch is desperately needed and would give Taylor – sorry, Catterall – the opportunity to set the record straight. It would also have all the backstory and needle their controversial first fight lacked.

3. Josh Warrington vs Leigh Wood
Still coming down from two of the best fights in a British ring this year, Warrington and Wood, belt-holders at featherweight, could together produce one of the all-time great all-British fights.

4. Anthony Yarde vs Joshua Buatsi
Both fresh off of wins against domestic opposition, the meeting of Yarde and Buatsi would be a compelling one for the light-heavyweight division and would see the Londoners clashing in their athletic primes.

5. Chris Eubank Jnr vs Conor Benn
The weight discrepancy between middleweight Eubank and welterweight Benn dampens this fight, yet there is no denying the idea of Chris Eubank’s and Nigel Benn’s offspring uniting in 2022 is a fascinating one.

6. Lawrence Okolie vs Richard Riakporhe
Two of the biggest punchers in the country, a fight between Okolie and Riakporhe at cruiserweight would be explosive to say the least. Liable to end with one punch, this could be a classic all-London shootout.

7. Joe Joyce vs Dillian Whyte
If looking for a road back after his crushing defeat at the hands of Tyson Fury, Whyte could do a lot worse than chase a fight against Joyce. Their relentless styles could blend to create quite the spectacle.

8. Joe Cordina vs Zelfa Barrett
Two super-featherweights flying under the radar, even with meaningful fights on the horizon, Cordina vs Barrett could be just the ticket for both as they look to capture the imagination of the British public.

9. Sunny Edwards vs Paul Butler
Starved of domestic opposition at flyweight, IBF belt-holder Edwards has teased the possibility of moving to bantamweight and boxing WBO belt-holder Butler, which could be the big domestic fight both men are looking for.

10. Hannah Rankin vs Natasha Jonas
This year Jonas moved to super-welterweight to take a WBO belt, while Rankin last year won the WBA belt in that same division. It makes a lot of sense, then, for the two of them to now meet and give fans a great England vs Scotland battle.
